Twin Cashews
EXPLORED! Apr 18, 2009 #114
Taken from Kottarakkara, Kollam, my mothers place.
Adding some descrptions for those who dont know much about these double delights.
The cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale) is native to Brazil.
The yellow/red fruit is not actually a fruit but a pseudofruit (false fruit). It is really tasty ,But be careful not to get your cloathes stained (I have experience!). Because of their fragile skin, the storing of cashew apples is a real hard job. Because of that, most people here feed these to goats or just throw them away. But they can be
processed and made into syrup, juice, jam, jelly, liquor etc.
The real fruit of the cashew is the nut. The nut is popular snack all around the world. In my opinion it is the tastiest of all the nuts. Besides being eaten on its own, cashew nut is widely used in Choclates.
