Effervesce
Up, Up and Away Art Installation, Covent Garden, London England
I was passing through Covent Garden on my latest trip to London, I love this place, such a hive of energy and atmosphere, no matter what time of year you go.
Anyway, whilst walking through the Market building I came across this stunning and very effective art installation called 'Up, Up and Away by French artist Charles Pétillon. I could't resist in getting some photos of it. Its such a feast for the eyes and who would have thought grouping a load of balloons together to form cloud like structures could creative some interesting effects.
I am down in London again tomorrow for my latest ''Hidden London' tour and this time it is of the bunkers at South Clapham Underground station, anyone else going or gone? Should be awesome!
Location Information
Covent Garden ((/ˈkɒvənt/ or /ˈkʌvənt/) ) is a district in London on the eastern fringes of the West End, between St. Martin's Lane and Drury Lane. It is associated with the former fruit and vegetable market in the central square, now a popular shopping and tourist site, and the Royal Opera House, which is also known as "Covent Garden". The district is divided by the main thoroughfare of Long Acre, north of which is given over to independent shops centred on Neal's Yard and Seven Dials, while the south contains the central square with its street performers and most of the elegant buildings, theatres and entertainment facilities, including the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, and the London Transport Museum.
