midnight vigilance
Nov. 2005
Every morning and evening of November and December, I would pass through this site. At times it was a toss-up between which was thicker: the air or the mud. But the views were breathtaking, always. Construction lamps, welding sparks, the cherries of lit cigarettes. Uploading this over three years later, the space is certainly entirely different. Instead of the night sky, one would find a section of Beijing’s fifth ring road overhead. And in the distance, several more high-end high-rises.
