Underwater Finds

A sparkplug found snorkeling when I was in High School down in Key West, Fla

(Go Conchs!).

And a piece of a transatlantic cable laid in 1869 abandoned in 1893.

This section was plucked out of the water near Duxbury, Massachusetts

(where it terminated) I lived in Marshfield, Mass the next town to the north.

The other end of the cable is in the waters off of Brest, France.

The little copper center conductor consisted of seven strands of wire. This is what

carried the telegraph signal, the rest is tarred hemp & Iron wires.
