November Surprise
No, not the election just completed which was certainly no surprise...at least to me. Rather, my attention was immediately captured when on a walk a few days ago I spotted this emerging from a mass of dead ferns standing tall and proud in the sun. I was rather astonished as we have had sub-freezing temperatures for a month now and yet this specimen had decided its season was not quite over. This is the "brown" season and the last thing I expected to see was a flower in November. Yet here it was, a little the worse for wear, but somehow carrying on nonetheless. These are the occasional discoveries that cause wonder and speak to a large variety of admirable human characteristics and qualities, such as persistence and determination among others, which could be equally attributed to this flower...no doubt the last, and most enduring, of the season. It must have found a reason to live...
I applied the texture to the original shown below after (for some reason) relating the experience in contrast to Pink Floyd's classic. All in all this is certainly not "just another brick in the wall."
