the lost main line says: The Olympic class liners had three engines. Two triple expansion reciprocating steam engines driving the port and starboard propellers and a steam turbine driving the centre propeller. For such a large ship the rudder was small but it was designed for the reciprocating engines to be used in turns. The turbine had no reverse and could only be used efficiently when the ship was cruising.

the lost main line says: These lifeboats disappeared shortly after this picture was taken possibly because some of them were originally from Olympic and were switched when the two liners were together in Belfast. Titanic's yard number was 401 and Olympic's was 400 and the numbers would have remained carved on the boats even if the name had been changed.
