1816 Davy Lamp Trial Report
A report written by Matthias Dunn the viewer of Hebburn Colliery of the trials of George Stephenson's and Sir Humphrey Davy's safety lamps at Hebburn Colliery on the 9th January 1816. The glass in Stephenson's Lamp broke and Dunn declared that the Davy Lamp was much the better starting a famous controversy which persists to the present day.
