This began as a photograph to send my cousin, but it became a small journey within.

 

We may never have a green Christmas Tree again. Last year was the first Christmas after my father's passing. My mother couldn't bare the thought of a live tree -- my mother and father always purchased a live tree together... and so, my mother pulled out this secondhand, thriftstore aluminum tree and we decorated it. This year, we did the same, but it was better. We'd already created a new tradition.

 

Lest you think our holiday was sad, it was not. Friends filled our house. There was food and wine, talk and laughter... and we've been exhausted since. ;-))
