00627 - the view

So picked up a car from Milan after a long (ca 3 hour) train ride from Roma Termini ('luckily' neither of us had done much research on Italy before landing, so the boy had plenty to read up on while I got motion sickness from trying to read on the train - so we both had plenty to occupy ourselves with).

 

The wait at the Milano CE Europcar was almost as expected, if the last European trip we had was any indication (waiting for ca 1.5 hours while the boy negotiated with a flurry of hand waving and arm gestures) - the whimsical but repetitive music from the toys being pushed by vendors at the the CE entrance.. well.. echoed in my head for the rest of this Italian odyssey..

He had hoped to surprise me by tooling around Italy in an SLK (well maybe that's a little narcissistic), but the goodfolks at Europcar in their wisdom decided to 'do us a favour' by giving us a 4WD Fiat. It proved to be a great thing later on.

 

The boy had decided on the last minute that we should visit Sirmione
