This is actually the 2nd in my series of EPROMs..... Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory, is a type of computer memory chip that retains its data when its power supply gets turned off. The little window in the center is fused quartz glass. As the quartz window became expensive to make they started to change the design. The memory could be erased by exposure to UV.
These are a great gift for anyone who loves computers!
These EPROMS were destined to be melted down for their silver when I bumped into the fellow. With the price of silver these days - I was lucky to snap these up from meltdown. Some geek boy or girl will adore this, even better if they recognize this bit of computer history. Alas, EPROMs aren't made anymore - and some of them have a high silver content.
