Twin Cities

The Our Lady of Victory Chapel at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota. The interior walls and columns are covered in Batchelder tiles (as is some of the exterior). It was completed in 1924 and was Batchelder's largest commission.

Ernest Batchelder was a tile maker in Pasadena, and then Los Angeles, California. He spent some time in Minneapolis as an instructor at the Handicraft Guild of Minneapolis.
