Rolf Nagel-Fl-25-6015-Megachile lagopoda + Leaf

Our last full day in Denmark brought a wonderful surprise and some lovely pictures. Just two meters from our doorstep, I accidently found two nests of this rare bee:

 

Megachile lagopoda ♀

Leaf-cutter Bee.... flying with a piece of a leaf to the nest

Grosse Blattschneiderbiene ... fliegt mit Blattstück zum Nest

Stor Bladskærerbi ....... flyver med bladstykke til reden

 

 

Body length 17 mm (measured in a lateral picture)

 

Exposure time (= flash duration): 50 µs = 1/20.000 s
