A Shocker Leyland
This is a lucky photograph that was taken in a park near Sherburn in Elmet in Yorkshire over the weekend.
It is understood to be the result of several years of secret collaboration between Volvo Bus (UK), Optare and the Dewsbury Bus Museum.
This prototype is finished in the livery of Ridings Travel and is thought to be a Volvo B11RT/Euro6-01/04 chassis with Optare Doyen bodywork and bears a striking resemblance to the Leyland Royal Tiger Doyen, first produced by Optare's predecessor Charles H Roe at their Crossgates Carriage Works.
Production of the new range of vehicles will be ramping up in the summer ahead of a formal launch later in the year.
The consortium is believed to be also working on versions dedicated to the requirements of National Express, Megabus and Shearings/National Holidays.
