Biodiversity

A French paper wasp, a masked bee and three common red soldier beetles feeding on a small part of a wild fennel flower growing on a Mahon roadside. This contrasts markedly with the large number of wild flowers resulting from our council's no-mow policy. These are virtually pollinator free, which tells me that lack of food isn't the main problem faced by insects in the UK. I fear a feature I saw recently about pet flea treatments and other potent insecticides getting into the environment may have more to do with it.
