Guillemot

A cliff packed with guillemot at Filely Brigg. Interesting how the auks at Filey are predominantly guillemot but a few miles down the coast at Bempton they are predominantly razorbill. Not sure why. Puffin numbers vary dramatically from place to place as well but that is easily explained by their need for nest burrows. The other two species nest on cliff ledges.I think these birds are pairing off in preparation for nesting.
