Iberian Wagtail

I'm forever learning. When I saw this bird I thought it was a blue-headed wagtail, which was the only yellow wagtail variant I knew. Then a chance reading of UK rarity reports made me aware of other variants and so I did a bit of research and discovered that there are around half a dozen variants.

The best match I could find for this, and other wagtails I saw in the Algarve, is the Iberian wagtail. Blue-headed wagtails have a yellow throat, not white and the prominent white eye stripe indicates that it's not an ashy-headed wagtail. It was also in Iberia!

Photographed on the salt pans at Olhão.
