Incoming African White-backed Vulture

Yet another element of the photography workshop was the public flying display with reserved seats for the workshop participants at the front.

 

This large vulture - about the size of a small turkey - had been trained in low flying and produced quite a few ducks in the audience. The note shows what it looks like on the ground.

 

Those who follow EXIF will notice this was taken using the 300mm with no converter. The sharpness of this shot with a bird coming head-on at full speed is testament to the abilities of Canon's autofocus. I now appreciate how much the converter slows it down.
