Louse Fly, Luseflue

A Louse Fly, ID wanted.

I have allways found these to be really creepy with their flat, crab like apperance, and I remember seeing pictures of cute little swallow babies infested with these little monsters, which on a little bird must be like the size of a rat to us - a scary thought!

They are extremely tough like real lice and ticks, and due to their low profile they can manouvre among the hairs and the feathers of their hosts. See also the comment field below for a side view.

This was shot with an Otamat 20mm f/2.8 objective. A micro film reader objective there was a post about on photomacrograpy.net a while ago. Unfortunately the post quickly evolved into a discussion about the ebay sellers moral habitus rather than focusing on the objectives optical qualities. Hence there is only a few people actually using it, so I thought I'd give it a try, and at around 18£ you really can't go wrong.

75 exposures stacked in Zerene Stacker, PMAX and DMAP.

1 sec, ISO200, 5.6:1

Lid by two IKEA Jansjö LED lamps diffused by a single layer of ordinary copy paper.

The background is an autumn leaf.
