Dish (610-613 CE)

Museum Writeup: "This dish is dated by the silver hallmarks (stamps) on its back to the early years of the reign of Heraclius, Byzantine emperor in AD 610-41. The center of the dish is decorated with a vine border and bears the monogram of the owner, Theodore. Two other dishes from the same set are in New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art, inv. 52.25.2 and Washington DC, Dumbarton Oaks Museum, inv. BZ.1960.60."
