Spatterdock, Yellow cow lily, Yellow pond lily commonly found in the southeastern part of the US. Spatterdock plants grow in shallow water and are rooted in the mud. They have large heart-shaped leaves, usually 4–16 inch across with wavy margins. The floating leaves are attached to long, stout stems which arise from large, spongy roots. The flowers are 1–2 inches across and held above the water by their stout stems, "half-opened" at or above the water surface...
