Cover Shot- Trenton is a big card player and wanted me to convey that part of his life in this portrait session. I did a lot of planning as to where to position the light and backrounds in relation to the subject (Trenton). I knew from the start that I was shooting with a wide angle, since that was what I wanted to explore in this project. However, despite all my early efforts in drawing up the shoot, this shot happened as a result of Trenton's shuffling skills. I desperately wanted to capture the motion of the cards flinging off his fingertips, so I kept the shutter slow enough to show the flow, but fast enough to document the detail. In the end, I also told another side of his story- his heritage, as seen from the flag on the cards and his lumberjack shirt. I cooled the image down in post processing to bring out the contrast between the reds in the image as well as the blues.
