Tajique New Mexico Church
The village name of Tajique might have been derived from the Tiwa name of their pueblo, Tush-yit-yay, as the village is on the site of that former pueblo. The Spaniards, as usual around here, conquered the pueblo and enslaved the Indigenous People.
