Mill dam

This is an image of Mechanic's Dam built in the early n1700 to power a mill .It was built in the shape of a horseshoe . It was much to my surprise when I learned RI was a textile state and machines were brought from England to the weave the fabric . RI is rather flat state , the highest point being only 812 feet . It is said that RI has only one true water fall and even then it is a very small fall . I had hoped to shoot this scene with a slow shutter speed but due to the snowy condition and numerous branches I was concerned that I might take a fall caring the tripod . Therefore he effect is of rushing water . Actually that may be appropriate for without a fast flow the mill couldn't operate . Many of the mill buildings are gone but the dams remain . Hal
