Great Spotted Woodpecker Dendrocopos major

Despite being the commonest woodpecker, I have seen fewer Great Spotted Woodpecker than Green being privileged to have the latter as a garden visitor, albeit, sadly, increasingly rare. This female, seen on a local walk, shows the lack of a crimson patch present on the back of the male's head.
