Skylark Alauda arvensis At The Salt Marsh

I have had the pleasure of hearing this famous and much celebrated songster (as in Vaughan-Williams Lark Ascending) on numerous occasions and watched its fluttering song-flight ascending above Hampshire's open country and farmland but a visit to the south east coast at West Wittering gave me my best opportunity yet to watch it feeding on seeds and invertebrates at East Head's salt marsh. The November morning sunlight showed the subtleties of colour in its plumage beautifully making it a highlight of my visit.
