Female Lion and Cub - Panthera Leo.

Zebra Plains Mara Camp. Massai Mara, Kenya, 2018.

Driving around the Talek River we were notified that the "Fig tree pride" had killed a giraffe so we headed over to the the area. It didn't take long to find them as the stench of dead giraffe was heavy in the air. The smell was one of the worst we had endured in all our trips to Africa, it must have been there for days. We couldn't see the kill but the snarling coming from under the bushes gave an indication of many lions still feeding. We moved away to clear air and found a lone female out in the open. It wasn't long before others emerged covered in black blood from feeding on the giraffe. There were quite a few females including about 5 cubs who were some of the darkest coloured lions we had ever seen.

Many thanks to those who comment on my images, Its very much appreciated.
