TEM2UM-331 of the JRC Qarmet shunts the Coal Enrichment Plant no.1 at Kyzyl on the Shakhtinsk colliery railway, around 30km west of Karagandy, Kazakhstan. May the 14th 2024. This Bryansk Machinery plant locomotive was built in 1990.

The first destination for the coal from the Shakhtinsk collierys. This is also the first installation you will come across when searching out the industrial railways of Shakhtinsk. It cannot be missed, the main road to Shakhtinsk crosses over these yards here creating a fine vantage point. There is no footway though and the drivers on this busy road are less than patient. We waited in the side wings before moving in to take this and any other photos here, given our previous problems encountered on this day. The guardhouse is just over to our left. Even though you are on a public right of way you do not know who will object, and they are often not the obvious people.
