Adonis Blue
Checking through my flickr 'Butterflies and Moths' album I realise that I've not posted a male Adonis Blue photo until now.
Adonis Blue (Polyommatus bellargus) flies at the northern edge of its range on the chalk downlands of southern England. However, the species can also be found on suitable habitats across the rest of western, central and southern Europe.
The male's most noticeable feature are the brilliantly-coloured wings. However, should doubt remain as to the identification, especially compared to a male Common Blue, look for the black lines through the white fringes to the wings.
