Black-browed Albatross

So our voyage to Antarctica finally begins. Dawn comes very early so far south in the austral summer. Aided by a fine contingent of mad Dutch birders, 5 species of Albatross had been found before breakfast! This Black-browed Albatross (Thalassarche melanophrys) was photographed skimming back down into the bottom of an ever-increasing swell as the protection of Cape Horn at the tip of South America was left further and further behind.
