Bernhard Isler, chairman of the BACnet Committee

Bernhard Isler, chairman of the BACnet Committee (ASHRAE SSPC 135), has today brought in his presentation "BACnet standardization at ASHRAE-a status update " four exciting topics. Briefly summarized the following:

IoT: BACnet offers a high degree of standardization of semantics and representation of application data, thus ensuring a high level of interoperability at this level. This should also remain available in emerging IoT technologies.

Semantic information: Building Automation data is equipped with machine-readable semantic information. This allows technology-independent information to be addressed in the future– reading and writing.

IT convergence: A dedicated network infrastructure for building automation can no longer be justified. This is why the networks are growing together.

IT security: With the emerging regulations and the aforementioned convergence regarding cyber security of automation systems, this topic becomes very important. Since various trades are involved in the smart building, reliable operation is essential. #plugfest18 #BACnet BACnet Interest Group Europe (big-EU)
