cuckoo wasp on errect hedgeparsley.

The cuckoo wasp (aka jewel wasp) is a small parasitoid wasp that lays its eggs in the nests of other insects so that their larvae may feed on those of the other species. Adults feed on smaller arthropods and nectar of plants on which they land. While the body shape is somewhat similar to that of bees, the cuckoo wasp lacks any hairs on the body which is instead, covered by coarse pits. As a result, they cannot transfer pollen. Over 60 species are found in Michigan.
