swamp buttercup (Ranunculus caricetorum)
Flooded area along Turner Road, Meridian Township, Michigan
One of hundreds of buttercups growing in a submerged area, and likely part of a single colony. No leaves were seen above the water surface, only the stalks supporting the blossoms.
This blossom was one of the closest to the dry ground where I could stand (about 10 ft distance). The blossom is approximately 35-40 mm across.
