Fuxin Steam - End of an Era

It has been reported that steam in Fuxin will finish at the end of June 2016. Steam trains will be replaced by diesels and the mine tip lines will be re-engineered to facilitate diesel traction. This is the result of mine closures whereby 7 diesel locomotives from elsewhere will be sent to Fuxin resulting in the end of steam traction. Indeed, Reuters reports that > 1000 coal mines will close in China this year so I wonderered if this might impact on Fuxin too. Looks like it has. Sad news indeed for us steam buffs but inevitable of course though I thought we might have had a few more months left before the end. I would have liked another visit this winter. That said, I was lucky enough to be able to record the last of the steam traction at Fuxin in December 2015. In this scene, three SY locomotives prepare for night duties in the backdrop of Fuxin power station, North-Western Liaoning Province, People's Republic of China.
