Odyssey
This is the first of two shots captured recently at Bank Station, and a reshoot of the staircase leading from the DLR platform which I last captured in April 2014. The original shot is still a personal favourite, but it was captured handheld at a high ISO and edited with a single exposure, and after a year I was curious to see whether I could produce a better image.
I opted for a set-up that was slightly lower and closer to the bottom of the steps, which I felt provided a stronger sense of perspective by showing the path of the lights and the reflections cast along the top of the tunnel. My postprocessing workflow was also slightly different given that I was now blending multiple exposures and able to recover all of the detail in the stairs at the same time as controlling the highlights along the centre of the image.
