100% Green Mountain

This particular winter day in 1982 was business as usual for the crew of GMRC train XR-1. With former Rutland ALCO RS-1 405 leading what could be an almost perfect company photo, minus the open door on the 40 ft box and matching caboose, XR-1 heads north crossing the Black River in downtown Proctorsville, VT. The train will pause to switch Luzenac America at Smithville before departing north for the VTR interchange at Rutland. Certainly good times back then. Fred Bailey photo
