Father & Son teamwork
Here is one final shot from the 1994 Mass Central season. When not running the successful passenger trains during the weekends, Terry and John Lindstedt, owners of the former Maryland & Delaware Alco RS-1 number 21 would run daily freight for the Mass Central. The Barre, MA reload had just re-opened and service would be required Monday through Friday. The morning job would bring the cars from Palmer to Ware, then hand them off for the final run north to Barre. It was such a great time, chasing a 539 Alco on the backroads of Central Massachusetts. Sadly the passenger trains didn't last much longer, ending at the conclusion of 1994 season, however freight service has skyrocketed to the reload facility, including up to present day ops on the MCER. Alco RS-1 21 with 3 loads of plywood have crossed Creamery Road in Hardwick, MA on July 6, 1994.
