Good days
I consider myself extremely lucky to have shot several plows extras on the P&W while the railroad had use of the VRS' GMRC Russell plow X106. We put it to good use on many occasions and on all lines of the P&W. What began on February 15, 2015 in Worcester, MA in white out wind driven conditions, ended with a blue dome. The "Firedrill" situation began when the phone rang at 8am from dispatcher Steve Banasik, "Get your ass out there, they called a plow extra last minute, and they should be out of here within a half-hour"...OH CRAP...Thankfully a frozen switch saved me, as I arrived at Hope Ave in Worcester as the gates came down! The extra plowed from Worcester, MA south to Plainfield, CT then west on the branch to Willimantic, CT. Nick Palazini joined up with me mid chase in Putnam for probably one of the best chases' with the plow. Here P&W GE's 3903-4004 pushing the X106, arrives in Willimantic after a long battle on its' 80 mile one way trek.
