Green Mountain Special

Over the years the Green Mountain RR seemed to always operated extras and specials over its 52 mile line. They were proud to show their pride in their operation and continue to do so under the VRS flag. Back during the summer of 1997, a cooperative agreement between GMRC-VTR-CP-NS and NECR created the "Green Mountain Gateway" service, bringing quicker transit times avoiding Conrail and Guilford. To celebrate this new service, a day long extra operated from Albany, NY to Palmer, MA featuring CP Rail, (ST&LH) 7306-7311 leading VTR coaches "Vermont" and McIntyre". The extra is passing Bailey's Mills, just north of Chester, VT on August 20, 1997. And yes folks, the CPR decided it was a good idea to send the 7311 on the trip complete with graffiti courtesy of the locals from Albany.
