Charlton's Charter

Preserved Midland Red West SOA 658S (658) is seen paused at Charlton Village Green. The title is named "Charlton's Charter" because it was on a Private Tour/Charter. An old vintage sign is seen on the shelter, and there was apparently a Midland Red timetable at the bus shelter for a while after being renamed. It was a good day, starting at Birmingham Bull Ring (where the old bus station was) to Evesham via Redditch, then onto Worcester and then back to Birmingham. It is owned by Dave & Steve Peters, and had been off the road for 15 years but has been beautifully restored. Thanks to Steve for inviting me on the tour. On the blind is 551 Worcester via Pershore. SOA658S was new in October 1977 to Evesham depot, where it has spent its entire life. It is a Leyland National 11351A/1R Mk.1 and has been fully restored in the Midland Red West red and cream livery.
