Marchantia polymorpha Featuring Archegoniophores
The umbrellas which lack webbing are the female gametophytes.
These Liverworts occurred on remarkably dry soil at the crest of a ridge. The soil they were found on featured a couple of burned trees which had burned well into the roots. I estimate that happened two to three years ago. However there was no evidence that this soil should retain moisture, it was however predominantly in shade.
