Canon FTb (n)
There are two things by now that everybody knows by now: I don’t like that much mechanical cameras and I am crazy for black bodies. This is my 3rd Canon FTb, cameras that left a cold impression, if any. I sold one to my good friend Carlos Jorge and kept a worse condition model in the collection. Then this one came along, a relatively rare black FTBb (N, unofficially), elegant, the thick black paint changes everything, incredible! This new version is different in some minor cosmetic details that I will not bother you with and most importantly, shutter speeds visible in the viewfinder and the red exposure tab. Somehow, don’t ask me why, this FTb is much sweeter sounding than the others, it has no vibration, it reminds me of the old Pentax Spotmatic, no mean feat. Perhaps this “n” model was mechanically improved or my other two were slightly off. Still, it is built like a tank and has a reputation of being almost indestructible. The good thing is that it was the very first Canon to adopt the FD mount, meaning that there is a lot of fine FD glass around at modest prices.
