TastingBritain.co.uk - Chinese Food Festival 2016 @ Potters Fields Park, London

The Chinese Food Festival returned to London this year. And so did the rain :3

Hosted in Potters Fields Park (which is right next to City Hall, Tower Bridge, and the Thames) - it is/was essentially a celebration of Chinese culture, provided mainly through the medium of food (which, I suppose, along with music and dancing could be seen as the great cultural bridge).

What this meant is 20odd street food vendors in attendance - more spicy noodles, Sui Mai and âbubblewrapâ waffles than you can shake a chopstick at. Plus a variety of celebrity chefs demoing some tricky and not so tricky Chinese dishes, a street food competition (not sure who won), a fine dining lounge (pricey) - you know...all the kind of stuff that people who spend most of their disposable income on food enjoy.

And for those people looking for an alternative to food (or things to go with the food), âculturalâ appetites were to be indulged in a variety of exotic forms; Tai Chi fan dancing (very graceful), calligraphy workshops, a night market from 7-10pm (playing house and disco music) or demonstrations of traditional Han clothing. Or all of these things, itâs all free - why not go to town?

Later I would see a guy who I am sure was a very senior Chinese official make self deprecating jokes (onstage) in both Chinese and English. Well, if you can't laugh at yourself...
