Nantucket Beach Club, Skylounge, DoubleTree by Hilton, Tower Hamlets, London

Tasting Britain were invited down to the launch of Doubletree by Hillton's latest popup - Nantucket Beach Club, down in lovely Tower Bridge - presumably because of our well/not well publicised propensity for saying yes to pretty much anything that involves a bar on the rooftop of a building.

As usual, I didn't really read the press release, preferring instead to be ambushed by the kind of serendipity and wonderment that you get from a cocktail bar on top of building ;D Heading along with my buddy Dom, we got the chance to get balls deep in a ballsy selection of their ballsy cocktails (which are on the whole pretty great, whilst also being pretty expensive).

Also available was food. Said food was seaside themed - think lobsters, mussels, scallops, crabs (with spiky carapaces that cause small scale hand injuries). Dom's Cornish so his standards for seafood are particularly high - however, we managed to find something for everyone (and by everyone I mean me). The best was probably some kind of fried squid thing that was moorish YET elusive. Unlike lobsters, which were quite easy to come by.

We stayed near til the end, making the most of the sunset (which was glorious) and the free blankets (which is why there are photos of me looking a bit like a guy in a cloak but who doesn't quite understand what material a cloak should be made of).
