Serial number 46013 began its career as a DC-8-62CF, wearing OH-LFR with Finnair O/Y, on January 27, 1969.

 

The original DC-8-62s were powered by Pratt & Whitney JT3D-3B engines that each produced 18,000 pounds of thrust and generated 111.0 decibels of noise during take-off when not equipped with hush-kitted nacelles.

The DC-8-73s are powered by CFM International CFM56-2C1s that each produce 22,000 pounds of thrust and have a noise level of 95.2 decibels.

The newer engines produce 22% more power and generate 14% less noise during take-off.
