ABC20 (3/25/97)-TURNING POINT-SURROGACY- Eleven years after surrogate mother Mary Beth Whitehead's bitter fight for custody of Baby M. the practice of surrogacy quietly continues as childless couples enlist women to contractually agree to have thier babies. In her second assignment for 'TURNING POINT,' ABC News correspondent Elizabeth Vargas looks at the controversial--and in many states now illegal--business of surrogacy. Ms. Vargas speaks with Ms. Whitehead-Gould (shown) of her regrets, her relationship with her daughter and her custody arrangement with the Sterns, 'I made a mistake and I am living the result of that mistake for the rest of my life,' she tells Ms. Vargas.
