The Blaze Gaze

Northern Cardinal Female

 

I've nicknamed this particular bird 'Blaze' for the unusual amount of red in her plumage. I think she's relatively young, and although she seems lower in the dominance hierarchy among the Cardinals in this location, I love that the intensity of her gaze matches the intensity of her colour.
