Colorful West Springfield
On the left, CSO-4 is preparing to pull west through CP 100 to double up their train with a pair of P&W engines on the point. To the right is a CSX GP40-2 and a red GP38-2 waiting to be delivered to the Pioneer Valley Railroad in Westfield. The lead P&W engine on the CSO train had mechanical issues earlier in the morning and the crew had to retrieve the CSO-1 engines from West Springfield in order to get the train into the yard. While this meant I wouldn’t get any shots of the P&W pair returning south in daylight, it was a nice consolation to shoot the four-unit set of power switching in the yard in the late afternoon sun.
