Sharp-shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus), male
This tiny hawk has become a regular visitor near my bird feeders. It is so small, about the size of a dove, that I usually have trouble finding it when it is visiting. But when I see birds at the feeders suddenly take off as a group I know that the hawk is somewhere in the vicinity. I was lucky this time, as the hawk was sitting on a large branch in an open area, in full view of my camera. Unfortunately the only way that I could get any shots of it was to aim the camera through a dirty window, into a very overcast sky. Not the best photo, but neverless I'm satisfied with it. Backyard bird.
