Pink-mouthed Murex (Hexaplex erythrostomus)

The pink-mouthed murex is a gastropod, a group of mollusks which include snails and slugs. This murex can be found in the warm Pacific waters from Baja California along the western coast of Central America and South America to Ecuador and Peru. The shell in this image is from my collection of shells from around the world.
