Green Heron
Looking beautiful in the early morning light. According to an article in the most recent issue of Audubon magazine, between 1966 and 2013 the green heron population in the United States has shown a 55 per cent decline. The reason for this decline is unknown, but research is currently underway to try to determine the cause. I now have an even greater respect and admiration for these birds and am fortunate to have them nearby every summer. Wildwood Park, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
